I always love it when my clients come back to me. I shot Mandi’s pregnancy portraits and Taylor’s newborn pictures, and it was wonderful to see and photograph them again. We did a real girly session with a tutu, soft fabrics and lots of great light.

My name is Maya, and I'm a Utah based wedding, portrait, and dance photographer. Although I live in Utah at the moment, I was born in Norway and moved to the U.S. at the age of 18. I studied fine art and graphic design in college, and after shooting several weddings and portrait sessions for friends and family, I decided to pursue photography. I'm so happy I took that route, and love meeting and working with so many wonderful people.
Hopefully my blog will give you a little better idea of who I am, and how I approach photography. Thanks for visiting!

We had a great session with Luca and his parents. His mother, Laura, had the deepest dimples – so beautiful. Luca was just a sweetie with huge eyes and cute curvy lips. I love newborn sessions which are best at around 1-2 weeks before baby acne starts to appear. And when they’re so young, they sleep a lot, and it’s easier to maneuver them into all these cute positions.

Jessica’s dress was from White House/Black Market. She wanted something that she could use again – what a great idea! Her veil was purchased in New York, and with the gold shoes she looked gorgeous. A dream for any photographer wanting to do a vintage/urban shoot, and Jessica has just the right look too. We had some great lighting and a helpful mother – Jessica’s parents are just wonderful!

I’m a little behind on blogging, so I’ll be posting some of my stuff each day to try to catch up while I can! I really enjoyed shooting Ben and Jessica’s engagements at Red Butte. She brought their outfits to the consultation, and I was so excited because Jessica just knows how to put an outfit together, and I knew they would work well with the surroundings! Ben and Jessica are just a beautiful couple anyway. Did I mention they were high school sweethearts?

I took photos of the beautiful Heidi at Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Couldn’t ask for a better bride to photograph. I was very happy with the way the photos turned out!
